Utilizing YouTube videos represents the natural progression in remarketing strategies. As Google continues its endeavors to transform searching (and advertising) into a more visually engaging and interactive experience, video ads are poised to take center stage. Here’s how remarketing with YouTube videos can benefit you:

This article will provide a detailed walkthrough of setting up a YouTube remarketing campaign in Google Ads, enabling you to reach your future customers through the power of video.

Setting Up Your YouTube Remarketing List
To begin, navigate to the Video Campaigns section within your Google Ads account:

Next, choose the campaign you want to use for remarketing. You can either select an existing campaign or create a new one. For this example, we created a new campaign called “Remarketing – Chroma.” If you’re starting with a new campaign, make sure to create it before moving on to the subsequent steps.

After you’ve either created or selected the campaign you’ll be using for remarketing, it’s time to set up the remarketing process! Click on the chosen campaign and navigate to the “Targets” tab. Then, click on “Show More Criteria.”

You’ll see an option labeled “Remarketing Lists.” Click on it, followed by “Add Remarketing Lists.”

A menu will appear, allowing you to choose the remarketing list(s) you want to use as your targeting method. Browse through the menu and select the desired remarketing list(s). Add them to the targeting group by clicking the “Add” button. After adding all the lists, click the “Add Remarketing Lists” button to save your targeting preferences.

Once you’ve saved and added everything, your targeting setup should resemble this:

Creating Video Ads for YouTube Remarketing
Now, let’s move on to the final step: crafting your remarketing ad. First, ensure you’re still within the remarketing campaign you just created or the one you selected that contains the remarketing list. Next, click on the “Ads” tab and then select “Add Video Ad.”

You’ll be directed to the new ad creation screen. Here, we’ll select the YouTube video you want to feature in your ad. Click on the “Select A Video” button.

Once you’ve clicked “Select A Video,” you’ll need to either choose a video from your YouTube channel (if it’s synced with your account) or upload a video by pasting its YouTube URL. Remember, you must possess the rights to the video or have explicit permission from the owner to use it.

After selecting your desired video, create the ad content by filling in all the relevant fields, such as Headline, Description, URL, and so on. Once you’re done, save your ad.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully created a remarketing campaign using YouTube videos! Your campaign should start generating views within a couple of hours after creation.
