Need a special corporate gift? Consider personalized watches.
Eugene Chow, Brand Manager at Lavotre, explained that their journey started with a simple question: “What if we could create our own watches?” They noticed a gap in the market for personalized watches without minimum order requirements or limited to generic “couple” designs. Partnering with Cheryl Tan, head of sales and operations, they established Lavotre to fill this void. Recognizing that many individuals desire unique watches but struggle with the design process, Lavotre provides assistance, turning ideas into reality.

Since January, Lavotre has offered both limited-edition and bespoke watch services, focusing on original designs. They pride themselves on their ability to customize every aspect of the watch face, using photographs, sketches, and graphics provided by the customer, without requiring a minimum order. Lavotre has collaborated with illustrators, simplifying the process for customers to achieve their desired designs. Chow shared an anecdote of a customer who requested her teacher’s calligraphy as a watch face, showcasing their commitment to fulfilling unique requests.
The design possibilities are endless. Lavotre prioritizes a simple, elegant, and fun approach, with all designs completed in Singapore. They collaborate with local artists like Lee XinLi, known for the “Nonya Kueh” art series, to highlight local culture and provide a platform for emerging artists and students to showcase their talents.
While customers have complete freedom in design choices, Lavotre offers recommendations. For instance, they suggest the “Brynn Black” for women and the “Bently Anchor” for men, both ideal for transitioning between day and night looks.
To ensure exclusivity, Lavotre limits the quantity of each design, retiring them upon reaching a pre-set quota. Their goal is to create unique timepieces, avoiding mass production.
Lavotre’s journey demonstrates significant growth, evolving from a small online business to a distinctive brand. Their collaboration with Lee XinLi in July, followed by introducing watch straps and an on-the-spot strap exchange service in August, highlights their continuous development. Launching their platform on Zalora Marketplace, offering expedited watch production within five days, and introducing gift vouchers all within a few months further exemplifies their rapid expansion. Chow credits customer feedback and support for these advancements, emphasizing their commitment to constant improvement and accessibility.
Lavotre watches are designed for everyday wear, water-resistant up to 30 meters, suitable for handwashing and light submersion. However, due to the leather straps, they advise against wearing them during intense physical activities to prevent damage from sweat.
Looking ahead, Lavotre plans to revamp its website, simplifying the process of creating personalized watches. To celebrate the festive season, they are planning a giveaway, discounts, and Christmas-themed watches.
