Canon has expanded its EOS M series of mirrorless cameras with the new EOS M6 Mark II. This stylish and portable camera is significantly lighter and smaller than a typical mid-range DSLR.
Edwin Teoh, Head of Marketing for Canon Singapore, highlights the EOS M6 Mark II’s portability and enhanced features, emphasizing its ability to capture life’s important moments. He also points out the camera’s advanced video capabilities, catering to the increasing popularity of videography and vlogging.
The EOS M6 Mark II is designed for capturing fleeting moments with its fast autofocus system and lightweight design. Its 32.5-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor delivers vivid, detailed images even in low light or high-contrast situations. Touch and Drag AF, accessible through the EVF-DC2, allows users to adjust focus points directly on the LCD screen while maintaining their view through the viewfinder.
Equipped with Canon’s DIGIC 8 image processor and Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus, the EOS M6 Mark II ensures sharp focus on moving subjects with its High-precision AF Tracking and Eye-Detection AF. With over 5,481 selectable AF positions, users have ample flexibility in composing their shots.
The camera excels in low-light conditions with a focusing limit of EV-5, achieving precise focus in dimly lit settings. It can shoot continuously at up to 30 frames per second in RAW burst mode. Additionally, the electronic shutter enables discreet shooting without the sound of a mechanical shutter.
Videographers will appreciate the ability to shoot uncropped 4K videos, utilizing the full lens coverage. The EOS M6 Mark II also allows for creative slow-motion effects with its 120p/100p Full HD recording capabilities. Wide-angle event footage can be captured and slowed down for stylistic effect.
The 3-inch tilting LCD screen, adjustable downwards by 45 degrees and upwards to 180 degrees, allows for unique shooting angles and perspectives. The camera’s five-axis digital image stabilization minimizes camera shake, ensuring sharp and stable video even when the camera or the user is in motion.
For high-quality audio recording, users can choose between the built-in microphone or connect an external microphone to capture ambient sounds and dialogue with clarity.
The optional Electronic Viewfinder EVF-DC2 enhances usability by enabling users to preview images, adjust settings, and maintain a stable hold on the camera, especially useful in bright conditions where glare on the LCD screen might be an issue.
Connectivity is seamless with Bluetooth Low Energy technology and built-in Wi-Fi. Transferring 4K videos is simplified through automatic compression to Full HD before transfer. The Canon Camera Connect app allows compatible smartphones to function as live viewfinders or remote controls for capturing images.
