CapitaLand’s serviced residence branch, The Ascott Limited, opened its first high-end serviced residence in Japan on March 30, 2017, under its top brand, Ascott The Residence.

The 130-unit Ascott Marunouchi Tokyo is in the desirable Marunouchi-Otemachi district. It’s part of a mixed-use development with offices and close to notable attractions like the Imperial Palace East Gardens and the Ginza area. The residence provides convenient access to Otemachi Station, a major Tokyo subway hub served by five lines, with connections to the Shinkansen bullet train available from nearby Tokyo Station.

Ascott Marunouchi features a calming design with warm earth tones and pastels to counterbalance the starkness of the surrounding glass and steel skyscrapers. This experience begins upon entering the ground floor foyer, a transition from the bustling street into a welcoming space adorned with warm browns, bronzes, and soft golds. Inside the elevator, brown panels and bubble-filled blue glass create an impression of flowing movement. As guests ascend, the lighting gently shifts from blue to white, creating anticipation for the panoramic view that welcomes them on the 22nd floor.

Tan Lai Seng, Ascott’s Regional General Manager for Japan and Korea, stated that the Ascott The Residence brand is internationally recognized and caters to high-ranking executives, dignitaries, and industry leaders. He emphasized that Ascott has built a strong reputation in Japan since it began operating there over a decade ago with its Citadines and Somerset brands, creating anticipation for the first Ascott-branded property in the country.

He expressed confidence in Ascott Marunouchi Tokyo’s appeal to discerning business and leisure travelers seeking a premium experience and home-like comfort, citing Japan’s expanding economy, the residence’s prime location in a hub for multinational and major Japanese companies, and its well-timed opening before the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Ascott Marunouchi Tokyo offers round-the-clock personalized service from Ascott Hosts. This urban retreat features spacious studios to three-bedroom apartments, each offering city or garden views. For a uniquely Japanese experience, some units include traditional tatami mats.

Every apartment is ideal for sharing, especially among business executives, as they feature distinct living and dining areas, a fully equipped kitchen*, and private bathrooms. In addition to a business center and meeting rooms, guests can enjoy amenities such as a swimming pool, gym, rooftop terrace, and reading lounge.
