Tata Communications, a global communications company, has launched its second technology challenge offering US$50,000 in prizes. This challenge focuses on harnessing innovative connectivity solutions, a key aspect of Formula 1 racing.
Leading up to the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO D’ITALIA 2014, Tata Communications is challenging the public to create a digital scrapbook celebrating the history of the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows in Formula 1. This Global Scrapbook Challenge aims to build a virtual museum, a captivating online archive of stories, memories, and intrigue for fans of the sport.
Lewis Hamilton, driver for the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows have a remarkable history in the sport. He believes the legendary skills and achievements of past drivers like Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss in the 1950s provide a rich foundation for this project to bring their history to life through the fans’ contributions.
Participants are tasked with developing a technological solution for capturing and organizing artifacts from the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team’s current season and Mercedes’ historical involvement in the sport dating back to the 1950s. Additionally, they are asked to propose a campaign strategy to engage the digital generation with the Scrapbook.
Julie Woods-Moss, CMO and CEO of NextGen Business at Tata Communications, highlights the significant shift in global digital content engagement driven by user-generated content. She believes the Global Scrapbook Challenge will be an empowering project allowing individuals worldwide to express their passion for Formula One and contribute to a captivating archive of content using cutting-edge technology.
Through this challenge, Tata Communications aims to inspire participants to utilize content curation and digital promotion creatively to create a new and innovative way for fans to engage with the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team.
This second challenge follows the successful first task, which focused on using analytical and information technology solutions to uncover new insights from Formula One Management’s live data feeds.
A distinguished panel, including Formula One Management’s CTO, John Morrison; 2008 FIA Formula One Drivers’ World Champion and MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team driver, Lewis Hamilton; Lewis’ 2014 World Championship-leading team Executive Director (Technical), Paddy Lowe; Tata Communications’ CMO and CEO of NextGen Business, Julie Woods-Moss; and former F1 driver and Sky Sports F1 expert commentator, Martin Brundle, will judge the entries. The panel will assess submissions based on the high standard set by the winners of the first round.
Details about the second F1 Connectivity Innovation Prize challenge are available on the Tata Communications’ F1 Connectivity Innovation Prize website.
The third and final challenge will be announced just before the 2014 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX.
