If you’re searching for a new lunch spot, you might want to try Strangers’ Reunion, a cafe in Singapore’s Kampong Bahru district that recently updated its menu. World Gourmet Summit-recognized chef Daniel Chin has crafted dishes with a minimum of five components to entice your taste buds.
The cafe is well-known for its coffee, which is chosen and curated by Ryan Tan, a three-time Singapore Barista Champion and Co-founder of Strangers’ Reunion. Their most popular coffee, Magic (S$5.50), is a double ristretto with milk. A ristretto, known as the shot for true coffee aficionados, is the initial 20 seconds or 20 milliliters of an espresso shot. It possesses a greater depth of aroma and sweetness compared to the latter portion of the shot, bypassing the caffeine and bitterness that emerge towards the end.
Among the starters are the Wild Mushroom Veloute (S$9.90), adorned with shimeiji mushrooms, togarashi croutons, and a drizzle of truffle oil, and the Tuna Tataki Niçoise Salad (S$15.90), tossed with fresh cherry tomatoes, pickled white onions, pea sprouts, a house-made wasabi dressing, and a poached egg.
Strangers’ Reunion also presents all-day breakfast choices, such as the new Ocean Trout on Hash (S$21.90) served with a petit salad and a poached egg. The potato hash and trout are enhanced by a savory bagna cauda, a traditional Italian sauce crafted from anchovies, garlic, and cream.
The recently introduced Breakfast Steak (S$23.90) features a steak accompanied by braised chickpeas, apple fritters, a petit salad, and a sunny-side-up egg.
Beetroot Corn Fritters (S$17.90) is another fresh addition, bringing together arugula, beetroot, corn, tomato relish, za’atar spiced poached pear, and a poached egg for a unique breakfast experience.
For the House Smoked Salmon Benedict (S$18.90), Chef Chin has crafted a special hazelnut béarnaise sauce. The dish also includes feta cheese, walnut crumble, a petit salad, and sultana bread.

Another specialty is the Strangers’ Reunion Buttermilk Waffles (S$12.90), cooked to a perfect crisp on the outside. They are topped with fresh fruits and diners can choose between vanilla bean ice cream or Greek yogurt.
New to the menu are the Berry Ricotta Hotcake (S$18.90), a fluffy hotcake served with fresh berries, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and vanilla bean ice cream, and the Chocolate Panna Cotta (S$16.90), drizzled with homemade berry compote, walnut-infused gold dust, salted caramel, and the final touch of dark chocolate sables.
For even more options, there’s Waffle Slayer, Strangers’ Reunion’s sister cafe. This dedicated waffle and specialty coffee bar offers both sweet and savory waffle options, including a unique squid ink waffle. The Banana Brûlée Buttermilk Waffle with Walnut Crunch is highly recommended.
Strangers at Work, situated in the CBD area, is another sister cafe.
