SITEX, Singapore’s yearly consumer technology showcase, aims to bridge the gap between individuals and technology. This year, it promises an elevated experience with new interactive activities like a technology-infused dance competition, a dedicated space for children’s technology (IMDA Pixel Labs), displays of intelligent systems from NTU, and the SITEX Innovation Alley presented by the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SITF). These additions are designed to educate, entertain, and captivate visitors.
Organized by SITF and managed by SingEx Exhibitions, SITEX will offer a more immersive journey through four distinct zones: Adventure IT, Gaming Arena, Smart Home and Appliances (launched in 2015), and a brand new technology zone for experiencing cutting-edge innovations and devices.
Adrian Sng, General Manager of SingEx Exhibitions, highlighted the evolving consumer landscape, stating, “Consumers today are more discerning, seeking more than just a bargain at a consumer technology show. We’ve listened to market trends and visitor feedback, and we aim to elevate the visitor experience by providing firsthand encounters with groundbreaking products and solutions.” He emphasized that SITEX stands apart as Singapore’s sole consumer technology expo enabling visitors to personally explore the advantages of technology in practical situations.
Ng Tian Beng, Chairman of SITEX and First Vice Chairman of SITF, acknowledged the contributions of loyal customers and partners in making SITEX a highly anticipated yearly event. He sees their support as encouragement to continually improve and showcase inspiring applications and devices that shape daily lives. He believes SITEX is a powerful platform for driving technological innovation in Singapore and preparing for the future.
SITF, collaborating with SITEX, has brought back SITEX Innovation Alley for its second consecutive year. This initiative provides selected innovative startups with a platform to showcase their products and concepts to the public at SITEX 2016. Featuring emerging companies with innovations ranging from augmented reality and e-commerce to education technology, SITF empowers these young startups to increase brand visibility, refine their innovations through consumer feedback, and contribute to the ongoing technology revolution.
SITEX will showcase the latest technologies across four thematic zones, simulating real-world environments: Smart Home and Appliances, Adventure IT Zone (outdoor and indoor sports), and Gaming Arena.
Within the smart home zone, visitors will interact with innovative technologies presented by Homeation, powered by Fibaro, a smart home company specializing in connecting hardware appliances. These integrated solutions aim to simplify daily tasks, enhance safety for children and the elderly, enable health monitoring, and improve home security. A mock-up apartment will host live demonstrations of future-ready technology, such as motion sensing technology in appliances like air conditioners, lighting, security cameras, and automatic settings for kitchen appliances.
Visitors can also participate in one of the five scheduled group tours to discover how their homes can transform into intelligent living spaces. Time slot registration will be available online on the SITEX website, and participants can enter a Trivia and Win contest for a chance to win a Fibaro starter kit valued at S$799. Giveaways will occur daily, with four winners in total.
The Adventure IT zone, a high-energy sports area created in collaboration with MegaZip and GoPro, will focus on personal technology devices that enhance fun and fitness. Featuring two trampoline setups, visitors can enjoy free play on the Mega Air trampoline or form teams to participate in CrazyBounce, a slam dunk arena on trampolines, while experiencing GoPro action cameras and other wearable technologies firsthand.
The Adventure IT Showdown contest invites participants to submit their most impressive slam dunk moments captured during the event for a chance to win exciting prizes. The showdown will happen daily from 6pm to 7pm at the CrazyBounce Arena, with interactive sports and entertainment activities open to all attendees.
Gaming has transcended the traditional realm of first-person shooter games and become more inclusive with the rise of gamification. Games are now utilized for entertainment, learning, and simulation. In collaboration with GamePro Singapore, SITEX will showcase virtual reality (VR) gaming through an experiential zone. GameAsia will also be present at the SITEX Gaming zone throughout the exhibition.
The newly introduced Tech Zone will be divided into three sections. The first section features IMDA Pixel Labs, an educational technology area where children aged five to sixteen can explore the latest technological applications like 3D printing and programmable toys. The second section showcases SITEX Innovation Alley by SITF. Lastly, the final segment features a showcase of NTU Intelligent Systems, where NTU student teams will present and demonstrate their latest and most accomplished projects.
To foster a sense of community, SITEX will also feature its own curated Spotify playlist throughout the exhibition space.
