To commemorate Singapore’s 51st birthday on August 9th, Singtel is offering customers complimentary mobile data, alongside free access to Singtel TV and Singtel TV GO.
Postpaid mobile users will enjoy free data from 12:01 am to 11:59 pm on August 9th, allowing them to connect with family and friends on social media, stream music, and watch videos.
From August 5th to 9th, Singtel TV subscribers will have free access to over 140 channels, including popular options like Disney Channel, National Geographic Channel HD, FOX Movie Premium HD, KBS World HD, Astro Ria, and Sun TV. Previews will be available from 6 am on August 5th to 11:59 pm on August 9th, 2016.
During the same period, everyone in Singapore can enjoy a variety of entertainment through the Singtel TV GO app, including family-friendly shows, action-packed thrillers, and other popular programs. A Singtel subscription is not required to access this content; users simply need to download the free Singtel TV GO app on their smart devices from the App Store or Google Play.
Yuen Kuan Moon, Singtel’s CEO Consumer Singapore, expressed the company’s pride in celebrating Singapore’s birthday with everyone. He highlighted National Day as a time for family and community, thanking customers for their support and expressing hope that Singtel’s mobile and TV services would help strengthen connections with loved ones.
This announcement follows the launch of Cast, Singapore’s first over-the-top (OTT) video portal app. Cast offers content from various partners, delivered through Singtel’s 4G network.
Singtel Mobile postpaid customers can choose from four content packs at launch, each costing S$4.90 per month and categorized by genre. For an additional S$3 per month, customers can add a 1GB data bundle.
Goh Seow Eng, Managing Director of Home at Consumer Singapore, Singtel, stated that the company recognizes their customers’ strong desire for entertainment on-the-go and their preference for flexibility in what, when, and how they watch content. He emphasized Cast’s diverse entertainment options, affordability, and accessibility, allowing users to enjoy the latest Korean dramas, Chinese soap operas, Taiwanese variety shows, and children’s educational content anytime, anywhere.
Goh also highlighted Singtel’s commitment to leading the OTT space through partnerships with strong content providers like Viu and Nickelodeon. He expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with more top content providers to offer an extensive selection on Cast, providing customers with greater choice and an exceptional entertainment experience.
Cast subscribers will benefit from:
- Instant access to Full HD episodes and the ability to download for offline viewing with the ‘Watch Now’ and ‘Download’ functions.
- Seamless streaming on Singtel’s 4G network or any WiFi connection.
- Convenient payment for subscriptions through their monthly Singtel bill.
At launch, Cast will offer four content packs – Viu Premium, Kids, Asian Hits, and Hallyu:
- Viu Premium: Provides the widest selection of the latest Korean dramas, variety shows, and Japanese dramas.
- Kids Pack: Features content from the Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels, including popular programs.
- Asian Hits Pack: Includes up to 1,000 hours of popular movies, entertainment, and drama series from Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and mainland China in their original languages.
- Hallyu Pack: Offers the best of Korean entertainment from top Korean broadcasters, featuring popular channels and all-time favorite variety shows.
Subscriptions start at S$4.90 per month per pack with a 12-month contract or S$6.90 per month per pack without a contract. A 1GB data bundle can be added to each pack for an additional S$3 per month. Customers choosing individual packs bundled with data can benefit from extra value through stacking; for example, subscribing to the Asian, Kids, and Viu Premium packs with data would provide a total of 3GB data every month for a low fee.
