Singapore Green Building Week has commenced, featuring Build Eco Xpo (BEX) Asia, a Southeast Asian trade show for the region’s green building market, and Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) Asia, a regional exhibition for HVAC-R*, water, and energy solutions.

BEX and MCE Asia, along with the annual International Green Building Conference (IGBC), provide a forum for discussing the future of sustainable buildings and development both regionally and globally. More than 12,000 international attendees, including green building professionals, thought leaders, policymakers, and end-users are anticipated to gather at these events. The goal is to discuss and share ideas on innovations that will influence the future of sustainable cities.

Under the theme “Build Green: Build Smart. Build Communities,” IGBC 2018 attracts participants from every stage of the building and construction process who are dedicated to comprehending and implementing practical, concrete, and innovative green building solutions.

Surbana Jurong’s “City of ___” is a highlight of this year’s exhibition. This life-sized urban model demonstrates the potential of technology in future cities. It simulates an environment where sustainable, intelligent, and productive technologies improve human interaction with their surroundings. Visitors can visualize how living, working, and recreational areas can be reimagined to improve quality of life.

Visitors will see the advantages of DVUCA’s city management system as they walk through the simulated city grid. This system allows for improved traffic monitoring and energy use optimization. The display also features a variety of technologies, including Thinkphi’s solar-powered umbrella.

Panasonic, continuing its “Quality Air for Life” message, displays its newest integrated air solutions, which combine air conditioning and ventilation to improve overall indoor air quality.

Dyson’s Airblade Wash+Dry integrates a faucet and hand dryer to improve hygiene and convenience for commercial users. This innovation conserves restroom space while reducing water dripping on the floor as people move from washing to drying their hands.

“BEX Asia is the perfect venue for fostering interest in green building innovations,” says David Yim, Marketing Manager at AGC Asia Pacific, a key exhibitor at BEX 2018. “It’s a chance for us to educate visitors about technologies that are transforming the built environment.” AGC, for instance, is eager to demonstrate how next-generation electrochromic technology reduces glare and solar heat in residential and commercial buildings.

AGC will continue to demonstrate its Halio smart-tinting technology, which tints uniformly in under three minutes when exposed to light. Halio resembles regular glass but tints in 20 seconds to reduce glare and block heat.

In its upcoming edition, BEX and MCE Asia will be joined by two new flagship events: Innobuild (IB) Asia and Smart Cities & Buildings (SCB) Asia. SCB Asia will concentrate on the digital convergence of solutions and technology in the built environment. IB Asia will emphasize the role of technology in transforming the building and construction industry by demonstrating how businesses can use productive technologies, equipment, and systems to build more efficiently.

“As technological advancements disrupt industries worldwide, it’s evident that Asia’s built environment sector will be affected,” said Michelle Lim, MD, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia, Reed Exhibitions. “Nations are also accelerating their journeys to become smart cities, proving that technology is already playing a crucial role in helping to solve today’s urban challenges and securing a sustainable future for generations to come.”

“These events will be an important accelerator of the industry’s transformation, helping stakeholders keep abreast of change and facilitating their evolution as the industry shifts towards smarter and more sustainable living spaces of tomorrow.”
