As a regular listener of the McAlvany Weekly Commentary, a program discussing “monetary, economic, geopolitical news and events,” I find their economic analysis to be among the most balanced and sensible. When the show’s host, David McAlvany, announced his new book, The Intentional Legacy, I immediately preordered it. That was four months ago, and I finally received my copy last week.
While I don’t personally know David McAlvany and don’t share his affluent background or require the services of his wealth management firm, his book offers universally applicable wisdom.
Impressed by the book, I decided to write a review and post it on Amazon. However, I was unable to do so for reasons unknown. So, I’m sharing it here…
My Review of “The Intentional Legacy” by David McAlvany
David McAlvany, the author of The Intentional Legacy, is an intelligent, analytical, thoughtful, and idealistic individual with strong Christian values. His book targets intelligent readers seeking wisdom and a fulfilling life.
Fathers and grandfathers, particularly those with a Biblical or faith-based worldview, will find The Intentional Legacy insightful.
Despite being a renowned economic analyst and leader of a wealth management company, McAlvany’s book focuses on strengthening family bonds and guiding future generations rather than finances.
The Intentional Legacy presents a vision for a wholesome, impactful family legacy and outlines concrete steps to achieve it. The emphasis lies in nurturing lasting, meaningful family relationships based on grace, humility, selflessness, and integrity, leading to a truly successful legacy.
By establishing a legacy of strong family ties and character, material wealth, if any, can be passed on with the assurance that it won’t be wasted. Ideally, your children will then take the lead, creating a similar intentional legacy for your grandchildren.
This is my understanding of the book’s core message.
I wish this book had been available when I was a younger father. If you have a young family, reading and embracing The Intentional Legacy is crucial. It offers unique insights, valuable lessons, and practical guidance that you won’t find elsewhere. This book has the potential to greatly benefit you and your family.
Even for those in later stages of life, like myself, the book provides applicable wisdom.
My only critique is that the memoir segments occasionally become excessively reflective, almost veering into sentimental outpouring. However, this is subjective and shouldn’t discourage anyone from reading The Intentional Legacy and discovering its valuable insights.
