Needlework on a Miniature Hoop

Presented by Wish I Were Stitching (two sessions, eight participants per session)

Historically, embroidery was a crucial skill expected of women in many cultures, reflecting patience, attention to detail, and color sense. Today, it remains a fulfilling creative outlet, producing stunning pieces whether displayed in frames or adorning clothing.

This workshop will guide participants in stitching on miniature hoops, resulting in charming pendants or brooches. Attendees will learn various stitches to achieve different textures and patterns, including the running stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, French knots, and lazy daisy stitch. Personalization is encouraged, allowing individuals to incorporate words or images within their hoops. As a bonus, participants will discover the art of crafting a spiderweb rose.

Polymer clay is a versatile medium, resembling plasticine or clay, available in a spectrum of colors, and moldable into countless shapes and textures. It can be intricately detailed and permanently hardened through a curing process, some requiring baking. Mastering polymer clay techniques is best achieved with guidance from experienced instructors.

In this workshop, participants will learn to craft polymer clay ice cream charms, utilizing various tools for shaping and adding texture. Techniques for attaching jewelry findings to create pendants or keychain dangles will also be demonstrated.

Creating Paper Quilling Greeting Cards and Magnets

Quilling is a time-honored craft involving the shaping of paper strips into intricate designs through rolling, pleating, and folding techniques. Spirals and curls are frequently used, often adhered to cards or framed. However, PaperSplash takes this art form to new heights of creativity.

Workshop participants will discover the art of creating a floral bouquet greeting card and a sun-shaped fridge magnet using fundamental quilling techniques, paper strips, and specialized tools.

PaperSplash, led by paper artist Bhavya Raghavendra, offers exquisite quilled and cut-paper art pieces for home décor and gifts. These handcrafted creations begin as sheets of pastel paper, meticulously cut into strips, then curled, rolled, shaped, and assembled into breathtaking designs. Raghavendra’s artistic talents extend beyond quilling to encompass a wide array of paper-based crafts.

“Etsy Craft Party 2016 - The Summer Edition” will occur on June 18, 2016, from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Goodman Arts Centre, located at 90 Goodman Road, Singapore 439053.

Workshop registration is available here. Two sessions are offered: 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The cost per workshop is S$23.80. All attendees will receive a complimentary goodie bag filled with gifts from event sponsors. Please note that there is an Eventbrite fee of S$1.80 per ticket.
