KKday, an Asian e-commerce platform specializing in travel experiences, has launched in Singapore. Based in Taiwan, KKday links users with local tours globally. Following its 2014 debut, KKday expanded to Hong Kong, Korea, and Japan, with Singapore as its fourth market.

“Establishing a presence in Singapore was a logical step. In addition to being a gateway to the rest of Asia, the city’s thriving travel and tourism sector makes it a perfect launchpad for KKday,” said Ming Chen, CEO of KKday.

Chen’s own travel experiences inspired him to found KKday, a company offering greater flexibility and accountability compared to traditional travel agencies. “Typically, consumers lack control over their chosen local activities as tour packages are predetermined by travel agencies. Furthermore, traditional agencies operate with a complex supply chain, making it challenging to pinpoint the source of any issues,” Chen explained.

“KKday strives to deliver authentic and enjoyable travel experiences by crafting customized itineraries for every customer. For instance, understanding Singaporeans’ fondness for Jiufen, Shifen, and Pingxi, we designed a day trip specifically for them to enjoy these destinations,” Chen added. Jiufen, Shifen, and Pingxi are sought-after tourist spots near Taipei, Taiwan. Jiufen is renowned for its village, rumored to have inspired Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away, while Shifen boasts a magnificent waterfall. Pingxi is famous for its sky lanterns.

To mark its Singapore launch, the company is holding the #taiwantrippin contest. The prize is a trip to Taiwan valued at over S$8,000 for one lucky winner and three friends in January 2017. With Millennials aged 25 to 34 comprising approximately 55% of KKday’s clientele, this campaign aims to attract new users and travel enthusiasts in Singapore active on social media.

KKday has partnered with Citibank to offer substantial discounts on selected travel activities.

  • Paragliding over Puli’s mountainous landscape.
  • A stay at Leofoo Resort Guanshi, Asia’s sole safari resort, where giraffes roam near guest room windows.
  • Quiet reflection by Sun Moon Lake, a popular destination for honeymooners.
