InPost, a global leader in automated parcel locker networks, has expanded its services to Malaysia. The launch was accompanied by a roadshow, themed “Malaysia E-commerce Day (MED) 2015,” aimed at raising awareness about the latest advancements in e-commerce, e-payments, and logistics.

According to InPost Malaysia Managing Director Rosland Mohd Jannes, the initiative seeks to connect with businesses and individuals, boosting consumer confidence in online shopping and alleviating delivery-related anxieties. Rosland highlighted the roadshow’s objective of bringing e-commerce closer to residential areas. Starting in September and continuing through the year-end, the roadshow will be held at locations where InPost has already installed its automated parcel lockers.

The half-day roadshows, running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., are a collaborative effort involving InPost’s e-merchant retail partners, courier companies, fulfillment companies, and hosts of the self-service parcel lockers. Rosland announced that the next roadshow would take place at Petronas NKVE Damansara on September 15, with subsequent events at other Petronas stations where lockers have been deployed. The roadshows also offer an opportunity for those interested to sign up for InPost services.

Rosland emphasized that the roadshow, MED, offers a platform for the public, including SMEs, to engage directly with InPost and e-commerce merchants. This interaction allows attendees to stay updated on industry developments and explore new delivery options.

He further explained that delivery concerns often hinder online shoppers, particularly worries related to additional costs, delivery timeframes, and the risk of unsuccessful deliveries. MED aims to address these concerns by highlighting the advantages of parcel lockers as a convenient and reliable delivery solution.

By incorporating InPost’s e-commerce solutions, retailers can enhance their customers’ delivery and return experiences. Customers can conveniently select their nearest InPost locker during checkout, providing increased flexibility.

Rosland highlighted the growing trend of online retail and the subsequent demand for innovative delivery solutions, stating, “With online retail continuing to grow at a rapid pace, consumers want innovative solutions to prevent them missing parcel deliveries.” He cited InPost data indicating that over half of users retrieve their parcels outside traditional business hours or on weekends. Parcel lockers address this need by being accessible 24/7, allowing customers to collect their packages at their convenience. He further emphasized the customer-centric nature of this solution, stating, “The introduction of this innovative e-commerce solution means parcels wait for shoppers rather than the other way around.”

He expressed his hope that Malaysians would embrace the convenience offered by these automated self-service parcel delivery lockers, which have become increasingly common in the Klang Valley.

Since June 2015, InPost has established lockers at 30 locations within Klang Valley, with plans to expand to 140 locations in Greater Klang Valley by 2016 and 350 locations nationwide by 2017. These self-service parcel lockers can be found at select Petronas petrol stations, Tesco hypermarkets, TAR University College Kuala Lumpur, and soon at designated LRT stations.

Shaharuddin Muhammad Sidek, Petronas Dagangan’s Head of Retail Business, believes that the partnership with InPost Malaysia significantly enhances customer convenience, complementing the existing facilities available at over 1,000 Petronas stations nationwide.

“The addition of InPost lockers is in line with Petronas stations’ one-stop convenience concept and matches our aspiration in promoting innovation in our brands, products and services,” said Shaharuddin. He highlighted the added convenience for customers, who can now “fuel tanks, [and] also collect [their] online shopping at the same time.” Currently, 15 Petronas stations in Klang Valley are equipped with InPost locker facilities.

Shaharuddin further emphasized Petronas’s commitment to customer convenience, stating, “Coupled with over 700 Kedai Mesra outlets nationwide, we are continuously looking at collaborating with our partners to bring greater ease, convenience and a rewarding retail experience to our customers.”

InPost has partnered with Skynet Worldwide as its designated delivery courier, enabling clients to seamlessly integrate their systems with Skynet’s services using a web application programming interface (API).

Skynet Worldwide Malaysia’s Executive Director, Dr. Teo Bee Yap, expressed confidence that “the availability of parcel lockers in selected locations in Malaysia will help to enhance the customer experience in e-commerce purchases.”

Another local partner, IStoreISend.com, provides comprehensive e-fulfillment services, including warehousing, picking and packing, and delivery to InPost parcel lockers for retailers.

Tommy Yong Chu Zheng, Sales Director at IStoreISend.com, shared positive feedback from customers who appreciate InPost’s convenience and flexibility, “No more waiting, no more missed delivery. We love InPost for its flexibility and availability anytime. Collect your parcel at your convenience.”
