HP introduces a limited edition notebook featuring a Star Wars theme

In anticipation of the release of Star Wars: “The Force Awakens,” HP has launched a special edition notebook.

“As the only PC vendor collaborating with Disney and Lucasfilm, HP is providing an incredible Star Wars experience by creating a truly unique notebook," shared Serena Yong, Managing Director of HP Singapore. “This collaboration granted us access to Lucasfilm’s media archives, which we used to create customizable screen savers, desktop backgrounds, and sound profiles.”

The Star Wars Special Edition notebook boasts a “battle-worn” distressed look, featuring “Galactic Empire” inscribed in the Star Wars Aurebesh font on the hinge and iconic Stormtroopers emblazoned across the keyboard deck. The touchpad design replicates the X-Wing Star Fighter Guidance System, while the red backlit keyboard contributes to the overall dark-side aesthetic.

Balancing portability and performance, the Star Wars Special Edition notebook offers up to seven hours of battery life and a 15.6" Full HD display. Users can select from sixth-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors.

The notebook provides up to 1 TB of HDD storage and up to 8GB of RAM, with options for either Intel HD Graphics 520 or NVIDIA GeForce 940M graphics processors. It also includes an optical drive for enjoying all your Star Wars films. Audio by B&O Play and dual speakers promise a remarkable sound experience. Customers can further enhance their Star Wars Special Edition with a matching sleeve and an optional wireless mouse.

The Star Wars Special Edition notebook on Windows 10 also boasts themed software, content, and audio. Clicking the Imperial Cog desktop icon launches the Star Wars Command Center, where users can explore the notebook’s Themes and Galleries. Here, users will find a vast collection of over 1,100 images encompassing 40 years of Star Wars history, including behind-the-scenes glimpses, storyboards, artwork, classic photos, set and costume designs, and audio selections.

Themes provide customization options for sounds, wallpapers, and screensavers, allowing users to replace standard Windows notifications with eight categories of iconic Star Wars sounds, from R2-D2’s beeps to the hum of a lightsaber. Wallpapers feature planetary collections based on movie stills.

Galleries offer various categories for exploring Star Wars content, including original movie posters, concept art showcasing early character, costume, and setting ideas, and a collection of Star Wars artwork ranging from black and whites to comic book art. The Star Wars Special Edition notebook also includes access to the first Marvel Star Wars comic, excerpts from select Star Wars e-books, and Star Wars movie trailers.

Hardcore fans will appreciate the addition of the Aurebesh font to the font library, allowing them to type in Galactic Base Standard. In another nod to Star Wars, the Recycle Bin has been replaced with a Death Star icon - intact when empty and destroyed when full.
