“Asia possesses one of the world’s largest and most dynamic small business communities,” stated Blake Irving, CEO of GoDaddy. “As internet access and smartphone adoption rapidly increase throughout the region, it’s crucial that these businesses can establish robust digital identities. This online presence will help them achieve their objectives and compete effectively. GoDaddy is dedicated to providing the tools and resources that empower Asian entrepreneurs to easily launch, confidently expand, and successfully operate their ventures.”
Small and medium enterprises comprise over 97% of all businesses and employ over half the workforce within APEC economies. Simultaneously, more people in Asia are going online and utilizing connected devices to access information and make purchases. In Hong Kong, 72% of people use the internet daily, and 74% use a smartphone. In Singapore, internet usage is at 81%, with 88% using smartphones. Overall, internet growth across Asia has surged by 1,319% from 2000 to 2015.
These trends underscore the substantial impact of establishing an online presence for small businesses. A RedShift Research survey of 1,000 very small businesses in Hong Kong and Singapore that created websites revealed that 45% experienced a business growth of 25% or more.
