Food&HotelAsia will be larger and improved in 2016

Ting Siew Mui, Project Director, Lifestyle Events, Singapore Exhibition Services.

Ting speaking at a media preview for FHA.

Food&HotelAsia (FHA), a major food and hospitality trade show in Asia, is approaching its 40th anniversary of serving the industry’s needs.

Since its 1978 inception, FHA has attracted a predominantly international exhibitor base (over 80%), underscoring its global reach. FHA provides a platform for showcasing innovative products, technologies, and solutions from around the world, facilitating connections and business opportunities for trade buyers and sellers.

FHA currently encompasses FoodAsia, Bakery&Pastry, HotelAsia, HospitalityTechnology, HospitalityStyleAsia, and SpecialityCoffee&Tea. ProWine ASIA 2016, the latest addition to the renowned ProWein series, will debut alongside FHA2016.

FHA will span all 10 halls of the Singapore Expo. Due to high demand for booths at FoodAsia, FHA is expanding to include an outdoor tent for the first time. Approximately 3,300 exhibitors from 70 countries and regions will be spread across 103,000 sq m of exhibition space.

Ting Siew Mui, Project Director of Lifestyle Events at Singapore Exhibition Services, mentioned that the biennial show was completely booked “months in advance.” The event is significant for product launches and draws many regional industry leaders. This year will feature over 900 new exhibitors, as well as first-time country pavilions from Hungary, Morocco, Poland, and Algeria, totaling 59 international group pavilions.

Chinatown Food Corporation will be introducing frozen pumpkin balls, glutinous rice balls (tangyuan) with salted egg yolk lava, and sesame balls with salted egg yolk lava filling.

Chinatown Food Corporation will introduce preservative-free frozen pumpkin balls, salted egg yolk lava glutinous rice balls (tangyuan, a traditional Chinese dessert), and salted egg yolk lava sesame balls. Chinatown Food Corporation is Singapore’s first manufacturer to create glutinous rice balls and sesame balls flavored with salted egg yolk. These frozen products, made to the highest quality and standards, offer a modern take on a classic Chinese dessert. The frozen Sesame Ball (Salted Egg Yolk) is entirely fresh-frozen, neither pre-fried nor pre-cooked. When fried, the sesame balls have a comparable quality to freshly made sesame balls. Freshly made lava sesame balls have a crispy exterior of sesame seeds and a rich, sweet, and salty salted egg yolk filling that explodes in the mouth. The lava glutinous rice balls feature a distinct salted egg yolk filling recipe.

The Halal Supermarket, a new addition to FoodAsia, will be a show highlight. According to Ting, attendees can source halal-certified ingredients and supplies while learning more about halal certification in this dedicated area. Self-guided trails, a new feature this year, will be available on various topics, including one for halal food and beverages that includes exhibitors with halal-certified products not located in the Halal Supermarket.

Bakery products specialist BHF will showcase frozen baked goods for bread and puffs at FoodAsia.

Bakery products specialist BHF, represented by Simon Tay, has opted to highlight their offerings at their own FoodAsia booth rather than compete for space in the event’s first Halal Supermarket. They will leverage the self-guided trails to draw visitors interested in halal foods. This approach allows BHF to showcase its complete product line alongside its cutting-edge equipment. BHF, which is halal, ISO 2200, and HACCP-certified, more than doubled its production capacity in 2014 by implementing automation. They also invested in blast freezing technology, which helps preserve the moisture in baked goods and lowers the risk of contamination.

Other self-guided trails focus on dairy, gelato/ice cream, health & organic products, hospitality essentials, meat & poultry, packaging equipment, productivity boosters, and seafood.
