The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has partnered with Careem Networks Company, an online booking platform for limousine and taxi services. Through this agreement, Careem will offer passenger transportation services using limousines or taxis, which can be booked online or via their mobile application. This service will adhere to the regulations governing taxi and limousine services in the Emirate and will utilize approximately 9,841 taxis and 4,700 limousines.

“This initiative reflects RTA’s commitment to fulfilling the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into the world’s smartest city,” stated HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA. He emphasized the goal of enhancing residents’ and tourists’ experiences by providing exceptional, technology-driven services, particularly in smart transportation, a cornerstone of smart cities.

This agreement contributes to RTA’s ongoing integrated mobility platform project in Dubai. This platform aims to provide customers with easy access to all of Dubai’s transit options through a single smart app. RTA’s various transportation systems, such as the metro, tram, buses, marine transit, and taxis, will be integrated with other transit providers in Dubai, including limousine services, the Palm Monorail, and the Dubai Trolley. The RTA is eager to expand its private sector partnerships and welcomes all online booking companies to join this initiative to achieve the goal of providing customers with smart services.

“Four years ago, we started Careem to accelerate the development of a technological infrastructure for online booking of transportation systems in the Middle East. Our vision was to simplify lives and provide comprehensive transport solutions," said Mudassir Sheikha, Founder and Managing Director of Careem. He highlighted that this agreement would bolster Careem’s presence in the Dubai market by offering integrated transport solutions that provide customers with safe and dependable mobility options.

“This partnership with RTA is a significant step for Careem, and we are dedicated to supporting RTA’s efforts to develop seamless mobility solutions for our customers.”
