Dubai’s Department of Economic Development (DED) has expanded its list of permissible business activities, increasing the total to 2,133. This decision stems from regular feedback gathered from various industry sectors regarding local market needs and the balance of supply and demand. The goal is to simplify business operations and offer essential resources for growth.
The new additions encompass several specialized activities. These include assembling industrial robots, providing tax consultancy services, printing secure documents, manufacturing scanners, collecting and transporting hazardous waste, offering health consultancy, brokering financing deals, and developing and managing applications for social media.
Omar Bushahab, CEO of DED’s Business Registration & Licensing (BRL) sector, stated that this marks the second instance in 2016 where new business activities have been introduced. He emphasized that their team continuously assesses market needs and gathers input from both current and potential investors in Dubai to comprehend their demands within the rapidly evolving local market.
Bushahab further explained that this decision reinforces DED’s focus on enhancing Dubai’s service sector and streamlining licensing procedures for limited liability companies. This is significant due to the crucial role such companies play in driving private sector expansion. He anticipates that these additions will remove obstacles to entrepreneurship, foster innovative business concepts, and generate new job opportunities, ultimately benefiting both investors and the public.
