Herbal Pharm, a nutraceutical company, has revealed that its three best-selling products are the i.360 eye supplement, Dia-Med Nopal Cactus vegetarian capsules, and NutraJoint Gold Flex.

The i.360 supplement is marketed toward individuals aiming to alleviate and prevent long-term eye issues, particularly dry eyes.

Dia-Med Nopal Cactus vegetarian capsules are designed to reduce blood sugar levels without causing a drop in energy. The company developed this product after conducting research on the nopal cactus, also known as the prickly pear.

Herbal Pharm explained that its NutraJoint Gold Flex product is popular among active, aging individuals for cartilage and joint support. The company claims that this product helps individuals with joint pain to maintain a regular exercise routine and manage diabetes and other health conditions.

Currently, Herbal Pharm’s products are exclusively available in Singapore. However, the company has plans for future expansion. Kanan Packrisamy, CEO of Herbal Pharm, stated, “Herbal Pharm is a nutraceutical company dedicated to serving the needs of Singaporeans to build a better Singapore.”

Packrisamy added, “We aspire to age gracefully, maintain good health, and experience continuous improvement alongside our fellow Singaporeans.”

In addition to the previously mentioned products, the company also offers Traditional Aleppo Soap 30% Laurel Oil bar soap and shower gel formulated for individuals with sensitive skin. They also produce Bladder Support Formula to promote bladder health.

*According to research reports online**, nopal cactus has beneficial effects not only on blood sugar but also on other aspects of health. Several supplements have been studied:

- A study published in 2014 examined the effects of consuming dehydrated and/or steamed nopal alongside a high-soy-protein breakfast. The researchers discovered that nopal decreased post-meal blood sugar and insulin levels. Additionally, the cactus increased antioxidant activity in both healthy individuals and those with type 2 diabetes.

- A 2019 review of existing research concluded that prickly pear fruits did not impact blood sugar or insulin levels. However, the study found that cladodes, or leaf-like structures of the plant, did have an effect on these levels.

- A 2019 study revealed that treatment with indicaxanthin, an extract derived from the prickly pear fruit, significantly reduced body weight, daily food intake, and visceral fat mass. The extract also decreased fasting sugar levels and improved glucose and insulin tolerance levels.

- Pasta containing 3% nopal cactus extracts was found to possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, suggesting potential benefits for age-related health issues and metabolic diseases. The study also observed a hypoglycemic effect, indicating the pasta’s ability to lower blood sugar levels. (2018)

Studies on rats have also been conducted.

- In 2017, researchers observed that diabetic rats on a high-fat diet who received a nopal water extract experienced significantly lower blood sugar levels compared to a control group.

- A 2019 study found that rats fed whole nopal on a high-sugar diet exhibited significantly lower triglyceride and blood pressure levels compared to a control group.

**Note: the studies mentioned above have not been evaluated for potential flaws and cannot be directly compared due to variations in methodology. The results are presented “as is,” and findings from individual studies may contradict those of other studies.
