CruCycle brings a fresh perspective to the fitness scene in Singapore

Krewfit recently introduced CruCycle, a new spin studio concept in Singapore, to fitness and fun enthusiasts. The studio’s classes operate on the principle of “Riding with the Pack,” emphasizing group workouts, teamwork, and camaraderie. This makes CruCycle’s workouts perfect for corporate team-building events.

The Ding siblings – Valerie, Calvin, and Beatrice – founded, own, and operate CruCycle. The inspiration for the studio came from their upbringing in Los Angeles, California. Their 50-minute spin class provides a comprehensive workout experience. Beyond indoor cycling, the signature class includes exercises targeting the abs and arms.

The idea for CruCycle was conceived by Beatrice, an instructor, co-founder, and apparel designer, and Calvin, the studio’s co-founder and managing director, during their time as students in Los Angeles. Los Angeles offered numerous fitness choices, and Calvin, being a natural athlete, gravitated towards indoor cycling. He had a history of competitive rugby, tennis, and bowling in high school.

“Upon returning to live in Singapore, we noticed a lack of spin studios comparable to the ones we loved in LA,” shared Valerie, director and co-founder of CruCycle. “This void, combined with our positive indoor cycling experiences in LA, inspired us to establish CruCycle. Our goal is to introduce the LA vibe to Singapore – one that is high-energy, enjoyable, and community-centric. We want friends to work out together, motivate each other, and have a great time while staying fit.”

The Ding siblings are very hands-on. They ensure that each bike is adjusted to each rider’s measurements, create custom playlists for each class to set the mood and tempo, and focus on both mental and physical strength building.

CruCycle states that its sessions cater to all fitness levels. Their “pack” mentality promotes unity as riders cycle in unison to the beat in a dimly lit room. They offer four types of rides:

  • Beginners: Introductory classes that teach new methods and exercises involved in indoor cycling.
  • The Pack Ride: This signature class is open to riders of all levels who are ready to push themselves with an intense workout. The 50-minute class incorporates light weights and core exercises.
  • Charity Event Ride: Cru will host charity rides throughout the year that are open to all fitness levels. Proceeds from these events will be donated to a chosen foundation.
  • Private Rides: Perfect for corporate team building, private events, birthdays, or special occasions. These rides are available at your convenience and are suitable for all levels.

Visitors to CruCycle might encounter Bandit, the brand ambassador and resident husky mascot. Bandit loves meeting new people and encouraging them to give their all in every class. Alongside the Ding siblings, Bandit helps promote awareness for Woof Infinity, a community project founded by Valerie to support animal welfare in Singapore.

Through Woof Infinity, Valerie aims to raise awareness about the issues prevalent in puppy mills, such as overcrowding, unsanitary conditions, lack of proper food, water, and veterinary care. Her goals include eradicating puppy mills, promoting the adoption of abused animals, and raising funds for medical expenses to ensure the pups in shelters are healthy and happy while awaiting adoption.

To support this cause, S$1 from every rider’s fee at CruCycle is donated to a local shelter partner each month to help cover medical bills.

Valerie also co-founded Send A Light, an organization that provides inflatable solar lamps to homes without access to electricity in Myanmar and Ladakh, India.
