Beogram 4000: Restoration of AC Motor

I noticed a knocking sound coming from my Beogram 4000’s AC motor, which meant the Oilite brass bearing needed lubrication. These bearings are designed to release oil onto the motor shaft over time. Eventually, they need to be replaced or re-lubricated. Using a food vacuum sealer and a mason jar, you can replenish the oil. Here’s how I did it:

First, I removed the motor.

Next, I removed the two rivets holding the motor together.

Here’s the motor open:

And a close-up of the bearing:

This image shows how the spring and washers are arranged on the motor shaft:

I removed the coils and submerged the metal motor housing in oil within the vacuum sealer:

Air bubbles emerged from the bearings as they filled with oil. After 24 hours, the bubbling stopped, indicating the bearings were full.

I designed 3D-printed parts with M3 nuts to replace the rivets, allowing me to reinstall the pitch adjustment screws:

Finally, I reassembled the motor and reinstalled it in the enclosure:

The motor now operates silently.
