This Beocord 9000 project was on hold until new Beolover displays arrived. In the meantime, basic functionality was confirmed - the Beocord can record and play cassettes. With the displays here, the next steps are to install them, conduct thorough cassette operation tests, and share the outcome.
The display work can be done without removing the Microcomputer and Display board. This image provides a top view of the display setup, highlighting the PPM scale lamp.
The PPM displays themselves should require no attention beyond replacing the PPM Scale Lamp. Both the scale lamp and indicator lamps will be replaced with LED modules from Beolover. The 7-segment display will undergo a more involved process: disassembly, removal of the old LEDs, and installation of modern surface-mount LEDs. Here’s the Beocord 9000 from a standard viewing angle.
Starting with the PPM Scale Lamp, Beolover documented its installation process back in 2015. As noted in that thread, the Beolover tonearm position indicator LED module can be repurposed for this Beocord 9000. The image shows the Beolover part as received.
The 2015 Beolover thread outlines the straightforward replacement procedure. Simple drop-in replacements are always appreciated. This picture sequence illustrates the process.
Shown here are the Beolover replacement lamp modules for the four indicator lamps. A 2015 Beolover thread covers this topic as well.
The image also reveals that the seven-segment display has been extracted. It’s time to prepare it for restoration. This is what the disassembled seven-segment display module looks like.
This is a clearer view of the seven-segment display LED board, showing both the front and back.
The original lamps are the tiniest dots on the display. Each lamp has a delicate wire strand at one end, which is prone to breaking.
The restoration of this seven-segment display module will continue in the following post.
