The renowned British heritage brand, Belstaff, recently celebrated the grand opening of its flagship store in Tokyo, Japan. Situated within the expansive Ginza Six retail complex, the new store occupies a prime location within this 47,000 square meter shopping destination. This strategic move underscores Belstaff’s growing presence in the Japanese market and its commitment to global retail expansion.

Upon its debut, the Tokyo flagship presents a curated selection of Belstaff’s offerings, including the brand’s complete menswear collection and, for the first time in Tokyo, its womenswear line. This exciting development follows Belstaff’s successful entry into the Japanese market back in 2016, marked by the opening of retail spaces in prominent department stores like Matsuzakaya Nagoya, Isetan Tokyo, and Kobe.

Hollywood A-lister and Belstaff’s Global Ambassador, Liv Tyler, graced the grand opening event. Having collaborated with the brand on two previous collections, Tyler’s latest designs for the Spring/Summer 2017 season will be available at the Ginza Six store.

The Tokyo flagship will also exclusively feature the “Ginza Capsule” collection, showcasing lighter-weight garments. Adding to its allure, the store will also introduce Belstaff’s first-ever eyewear collection, meticulously handcrafted in Japan using the finest materials. Encompassing 100 square meters, this impressive retail space claims the title of Belstaff’s second-largest in Asia, following the Macau store, and marks the brand’s most significant retail launch since the unveiling of its flagship on New Bond Street in London.

Gavin Haig, CEO of Belstaff, shared his enthusiasm: “Ginza Six, our fourth retail location in Japan, represents our rapid and strategic growth in this crucial market. Japan’s influence on global fashion and style is undeniable, leading us to prioritize this incredible country as a core market for Belstaff. The Japanese appreciation for modern heritage and their desire for high-quality goods have been instrumental to our success here. Moreover, we are a brand that consistently innovates, placing equal importance on functionality and style. The positive reception to our ongoing partnership with SOPHNET, which resulted in a street-style-inspired collection reflecting Tokyo’s fashion scene, has resonated globally.”

He added, “The Ginza Six store marks the debut of our women’s line in Japan, with our esteemed ambassador, Liv Tyler, embodying the essence of the modern Belstaff Woman. Ginza Six embodies a new standard of luxury retail, offering customers a truly elevated shopping experience. We are incredibly excited to be a part of this historic opening, a significant moment in our brand’s 93-year legacy.”

Coinciding with the flagship launch, Belstaff also debuted its first-ever archive exhibition, “Hollywood Legends,” hosted at the Daikanyama Tsutaya bookstore. This exhibition pays homage to Belstaff’s iconic designs, which have graced the silver screen in numerous Hollywood films, including “The Aviator” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, “Ironman,” “Dark Knight,” “I Am Legend,” and “Twilight.”
