Acronis, a global cyber protection company, has launched Acronis True Image 2020, a new personal cyber protection solution. This version allows users to automatically copy local backups to the cloud, making it the first personal solution to automate the 3-2-1 backup rule recommended by data protection experts.
This release supports Acronis’s vision of cyber protection, which combines traditional data protection and cybersecurity into one solution. As a result, Acronis True Image 2020 is the only personal solution to address all five vectors of cyber protection—safety, accessibility, privacy, authenticity, and security of data (SAPAS).
“We rely heavily on data today, making our digital assets more valuable than ever. However, this also means we manage more data and devices than ever before. Protecting it all from growing cyber threats presents challenges like increased complexity, security concerns, and cost,” said Serguei “SB” Beloussov, founder and CEO of Acronis. “By making comprehensive cyber protection easy, efficient, and secure, Acronis helps individuals ensure all their data is protected.”
According to Acronis, the 3-2-1 backup rule means:
Creating three copies of data: one primary copy and two backups
Storing the copies in at least two types of storage media, such as a local drive, a network-attached storage device, or a tape drive
Storing one copy offsite, such as in the cloud—dual protection.
The Dual Protection replication feature is one of over 100 enhancements and new capabilities in Acronis True Image 2020. While independent labs have already found Acronis True Image to be up to 10 times faster than competitors, the 2020 release introduces a new backup format for even better performance, including faster backup and recovery speeds. It also lets users browse files in their cloud backups more quickly.
Beyond improved backup technology, Acronis True Image 2020 ensures users can keep their data safe anywhere. This release lets users choose which Wi-Fi networks allow backups, avoiding metered connections and insecure public networks that risk data security.
Users also want to ensure backups don’t disrupt computer use, like draining a laptop battery. With Acronis True Image 2020, users control when backups run on battery power. They can prevent backups on battery power completely or set a minimum power level—for example, if the battery falls below 40%, backups won’t run.
A new Tray Notifications Center gives users real-time backup status updates for quick issue resolution. They’ll also receive the latest news to improve their cyber protection.
For the past three years, Acronis True Image has been the only personal backup solution with built-in AI-powered anti-malware defense. This integrated technology, called Acronis Active Protection, stops ransomware and cryptojacking attacks in real-time, automatically restoring any affected files.
Instead of scanning for known malware signatures, the technology monitors system behavior for attack indicators. This approach effectively detects and defeats any attack, including never-before-seen ransomware strains. It blocked over 400,000 ransomware attacks last year. The company has enhanced this AI-powered defense for Acronis True Image 2020. This version includes enhanced machine learning models, making Acronis True Image 2020 even more effective at stopping all cyberthreats.
Enabling automatic replication of local backups in the cloud is the latest Acronis innovation. Acronis’ data protection firsts include offering full image backups to home users and the first backup to enable cloning a system disk—on Windows and Mac systems—while in use. It remains the only personal backup solution with integrated AI-powered anti-malware defense, Blockchain-based data authenticity certification, and verification.
Acronis solves SAPAS challenges with backup, security, disaster recovery, and enterprise file sync and share solutions that run in hybrid cloud environments. Trusted by 80% of Fortune 1000 companies, the company has over 5 million customers.
