Accor reveals the opening of its 600th hotel in the Asia Pacific region

Accor has achieved a significant milestone with its 600th hotel in the Asia Pacific region, the iconic Park Lane hotel in Hong Kong, joining the group’s upscale Pullman brand. This rebranding is particularly noteworthy as it marks the 50th Pullman hotel in the region, highlighting the brand’s impressive growth since its introduction in late 2007. Coinciding with The Park Lane’s 40th anniversary, this transformation signifies a new chapter for the hotel.

Accor’s 600th hotel being part of the Pullman brand underscores the group’s future growth strategy in the region, with a focus on expanding in the upscale and luxury segments. Accor’s journey in the Asia Pacific began in 1982 with the Novotel Orchid Singapore. While it took 14 years to surpass 100 hotels, the network tripled to over 300 between 1997 and 2007. Demonstrating its commitment to the region, Accor doubled its network to 600 in the following six years, achieving in a fraction of the time what had previously taken 25 years.

Development has reached unprecedented levels, with an average of one Accor hotel opening weekly in the Asia Pacific. This expansion is expected to continue, driven by the region’s burgeoning middle class and the increasing demand for high-quality, internationally recognized hotel accommodations.

“The inclusion of The Park Lane Hong Kong into the Pullman brand is a significant achievement for Accor. It provides us with a strategically located hotel in a global business and tourism hub at a time when Pullman is establishing itself as one of the region’s most exciting hotel brands,” said Michael Issenberg, Chairman and CEO of Accor Asia Pacific.

“Reaching the milestone of 600 hotels in the region with this addition is a testament to Accor’s robust growth and our investment in Pullman as a brand of the future. We believe that The Park Lane’s relaunch on January 1, 2015, will mark a successful year for the Pullman brand, with over 40 more Pullman hotels planned across the region in the next few years.”

Situated in Causeway Bay, The Park Lane features 826 rooms, three restaurants and bars, and 14 meeting rooms totaling 10,371 square feet of event space. While already well-maintained, a comprehensive renovation is underway to align the hotel with Pullman’s global standards. This includes upgrades to the Park Lane Suites, executive floors, dining venues, meeting rooms, and the executive lounge. These renovations are being implemented in stages to minimize disruption to guests, and the hotel will remain operational throughout.

“We are enthusiastic about joining the Accor family and the Pullman brand, believing this will enhance The Park Lane’s visibility and attract a wider range of guests worldwide,” stated Luc Bollen, Regional Director of Park Lane Hotels International. “Pullman is the ideal brand for The Park Lane, catering to modern, globally-minded travelers seeking upscale amenities and top-notch business and meeting facilities. Our owners, Victoria Park Hotels, are investing HK$200 million over the next two years to revitalize the hotel, and we are eager to embark on this new chapter following 40 successful years.”

In just over seven years, Pullman has emerged as one of the region’s most dynamic upscale hotel brands, becoming the largest five-star hotel brand in Australia and Accor’s fastest-growing brand in Greater China. Pullman aims to set new standards in upscale accommodation with a network of 80 hotels spanning 23 countries and five continents. Pullman hotels are characterized by their personalized services, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative approach to meetings and events.
